A Paranoiac's Torture

Introduction

This torture is of a strictly logical nature, and the intended solutions are locked in and confirmed such that upon discovery, as with all of Paul Cooijmans' tests, one is endowed with the "Aha!" experience, the explosion in the mind otherwise the privilege of genius. Sadly, fourteen years of observation have taught that the true paranoiac undergoes the same when arriving at a false, illogical answer. For the paranoiac, through over-inclusive awareness and wide associative horizon, sees pattern that is not there, but with the certainty of true discovery. In other words, who find the correct answer receive the "Aha!" experience, but not all who receive that experience have found the correct answer. The test designer is thoroughly aware of this phenomenon and of the mental suffering it causes, and dedicates this test to those tortured individuals who, though less intelligent than higher scorers, may in some cases be more creative by the synergy of intelligence, conscientiousness, and associative horizon.
